Two Charged Regarding Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
Two individuals are now facing charges in connection with a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be pepper spray resulted in harm at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and two counts of administering a noxious substance, as confirmed by court officials.
The charges follow an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their luggage stolen after getting out of a parking garage elevator, police said.
A young child was caught up in the incident during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
The incident – described by police as was not part of a series and not considered a terror-related act – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a limited duration.
