Tributes Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt able to share openly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles judge agreed to block the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate issued a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
After the tragedy, public individuals expressed different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering controversial statements that were met with immediate backlash by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics last week. Talking on his show, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and implied they revealed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an aide could have stepped in when the choice to comment on the passing was made.
