Barça Set to Play Inaugural Game at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in domestic competition over two years since relocating so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators can be present based on approved permits. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized an open training session on the home pitch earlier this month. They mentioned approval is being pursued by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
